Fire Engulfs 20 Semi-Permanent Houses in Kampung Muka Ancol

Firefighters from the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency successfully extinguished a fire that burned 20 semi-permanent houses on Jalan Kampung Muka, RT 09/04, Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan Sub-district.

Head of the Operation Sections at the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Gulkarmat Sub-agency, Gatot Sulaeman, said the fire was reported at 8:30 AM.

"We deployed 19 fire trucks and 95 firefighters to respond immediately," he informed on Sunday (9/27).

Gatot explained that when personnel arrived at the scene, the fire had grown larger, prompting them to immediately begin firefighting efforts to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

"Firefighting operations began at 8:40 AM. The entire response was completed at 10:41 AM," he added.

He said the fire was believed to have started on the second floor of a rented house owned by Sumadi. Before flames were seen, residents reportedly heard an explosion that was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

"A total of 20 semi-permanent houses covering an area of around 1,800 square meters were affected by the fire," he highlighted.

He added that 110 households, comprising 380 people, were safely evacuated.

"There were no fatalities or reports of injuries in the incident. We continue to urge residents to remain alert to potential fires, particularly those caused by electrical short circuits," he said.

Meanwhile, local resident Indriani thanked the Fire and Rescue Sub-agency personnel for their quick response to the fire.

"I panicked when I saw the flames quickly growing larger. We are very grateful that the personnel arrived quickly and immediately put out the fire. They were a great help to us," she said.
